SB 1211 in the coastal zone
Coastal Commission jurisdiction and how it affects multifamily ADU projects.
Parcels within the Coastal Zone (mapped by the California Coastal Commission) require a Coastal Development Permit. SB 1211 does not waive this requirement. Cities can ministerially approve the SB 1211 portion, but the CDP is a separate process.
For coastal-adjacent parcels outside the mapped zone, SB 1211 applies normally. Verify the boundary on your specific parcel before assuming.
